A customary toast of friendship in which two comrades will clink glasses. Firstly, using the tip of the glass - for friends that are here -, then, the bottom - for friends friends that aren't here - and finally, tapping the bottom on the nearest flat surface (i.e. table, ground, bar etc.) - for the friends still to come. It is an act of companionship in many drinking communities.
