Smoke on the Water

A legendary rock song by the equally legendary early 70's rock band, Deep Purple. It is praised for it's quickly catchy beat, easy to learn lyrics, and it's Godliness all around. Considered by many as one of the best rock songs ever, and a favorite of many Deep Purple fans. A few other songs as good as this one are "Space Truckin'", "Fireball", "Black Knight", and "Demon's Eye".

Dropping the water bottle

An alternative term to describe the action of masturbation. Specifically refers to the point of climax. Hence dropping a water bottle causes it's contents to "squirt" out the top.
Friend: "What took you so long?"
Me: "Sorry, I was dropping the water bottle."

Marley the Water Drinkin Dog

The dog of many spirit animals. Taking the form of the squirrel most the time but also taking the form of the cow, seal, horse, whale, donkey, goat, eagle, panda, fish, sloth, snail, cheetah, pig, and also a older black woman, possibly Aunt Jemima.
Marley the Water Drinkin Dog is the squirrel of the world.

stuck in the Water Temple

A phrase describing something so incredibly confusing that you have no idea how to get through it. Comes from the Water Temple in Zelda 64, one of the most insane levels I've seen in any video game, ever. No joke - EVERYONE gets stuck in the Water Temple when they play this game, usually for weeks/months/years.
"What am I supposed to do next?! GAH! This is like being stuck in the Water Temple!!!"

Smoke on the water

Old folks from the country, generally in the south, use to say on nights where there was mist/fog over a swamp, pond, river or lake that the devil was raising hell under water. The saying "there is going to be smoke on the water tonight" came from that and means something is about to go down or someone is getting ready to raise hell. The saying predates the rock song by deep purples but I doubt they intended that meaning in their song. I believe their song is about a fire at a hotel.
If them MFs don't have my money theres gonna be some smoke on the water. I.e. I'm gonna raise hell.

Alone on the Water

An amazing fan fiction that will bring any and all Sherlock fandom members to tears.
Considered to be a right of passage for all members of the fandom and is written by the amazing madlori.

Nearly all Sherlock fandom members know of 'Alone on the Water' and those who do know of it have read it and have had their hearts broken by the truly-fucking-amazing-ness of it.

Mentions of 'Alone on the Water' almost always followed by 'forever crying'
Fan A: Oh my god have you read Alone on the Water?!
Fan B: Yeesss, I cried for ever after reading that. My tear ducts were all fucking dried up because of it.

Dead in the water

-idiom/phrase

Many different interpretations, but here's mine.

An idea or product that is hindered by lack of careful thought and planning and does not appeal to the masses. The fault usually falls upon the developer of the idea/product. When the product or idea is dispersed to the intended audience, the audience immediately dismisses it. The idea or product was doomed from start.
Here's an idea that takes 'dead in the water' to an epic level.

'was just thinking. my sister does -alot- of reading, and spends like $1000 a year on just books alone. most of them she reads once then never looks at again. is there any kind of like…video rental store but for books? would make things a lot cheaper, plus once one person has read one the next person can get enjoyment from it etc'
