to suddenly, and unexpectedly, do a bunk from your normal everyday life. Usually to another country as per the 1989 film Shirley Valentine.

Office worker "I haven't seen Karen in Finance for a while..."

Boss "Off the record, not coming back. She's left her husband, gone to Spain."

Office worker "Didn't think she had it in her to do a shirley"

A Shipley 

Verb. Short for Pulling a Shipley:

Where someone stops in front of you with no warning in the middle of a rain storm so that you hydroplane into the back of them, totaling your vehicle.

Originally done with a Plymouth Neon but can be completed in any vehicle.

Damn! I just pulled A Shipley!
