Ice fishing: A bad-faith engagement tactic used by concern trolls where someone drops a provocative or condescending comment with a thin veil of civility (the bait), waits to see if you react, and then slowly works the line with follow-up questions or escalating condescension if you bite (searching for a hole to fish for more material to concern troll about). If you stop engaging, they lash out before packing up and leaving while pretending they were never trying to catch anything, often with the same dismissive parting shots or emojis that they had been using during the entire discussion.
