New Zealand has no written constitution. The most important statutory rights are found in the unentrenched New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990. These so-called rights have been overridden many times by various NZ Parliaments. As such, some have referred to NZ an a 'elective dictatorship'or "thin" democracy.
