The act of hating or disliking something because liking it would be too mainstream.

1) "Dude, why don't you like the latest iPhone?"

"Nothing. Just giving it some hipster hate."

2) "Everyone except Rachel seems to have taken a liking in you."

"I know right? She's prolly just hipster hating on me."
