yumeshipper

A yumeshipper - or a Yume - is someone that cherishes and loves a fictional character so deeply, they see themselves with that character. Yume is a derivative of a Japanese term 'yumejoshi', which means 'dream girl' (gender does not matter here - that's just what they call it). What this means, is someone who imagines themselves in a relationship with a canon fictional character.

The love of a yume to their f/o (fictional other) is so strong, that it transcends any romantic relationship. Many Yume's consider themselves #1 fans, are massive collectors, and tend to devote their life to their f/o.

Yumeshippers also have a 'sharing system' online of: Sharing, Selective or Non-sharing.

• 'Sharing': are comfortable interacting with other yumeshippers of the same f/o.

• 'Selective Sharing': need to know the other person to trust them, that they then feel comfortable sharing (other factors also apply).

• 'Non-sharing': do not like to interact or be in spaces with other yumeshippers of the same f/o.

In clarification, Yumeshippers are NOT OC x Canon Shippers. Yumes are a form of selfshippers that is a step beyond the normal connection to a f/o. Yes, there are OCs that have parts of yourselves in them (they all do essentially), but most times, yumes are inserting themselves with hardly any changes made, as they truly see themselves with their f/o. While, there is a broad spectrum of yumeshippers out there, it does boil down to whether you see yourself with your f/o or not.
Person 1: Oh my gosh, I love your yume! They look so sweet with their f/o.
Person 2: Thank you... but I am not a yumeshipper. I do not see myself with the f/o, just the OC. So the ship is actually OC x Canon.
