ditsy

a girl who has become so overstimulated, anxious, or overwhelmed that she takes a prescribed benzodiazepine to calm down. as it begins to kick in, she becomes a little clumsy, sluggish, forgetful, and spacey. as the ***feeling*** settles in, those side effects remain, but she gradually feels warm, calm, and genuinely happy again. she's finally able to enjoy the rest of the day and feels like herself, even if she's still a little unsteady.

"you were just crying earlier."

"i know, and now i feel warm, calm, and weirdly happy too."

"that sounds good."

"it is. i'm still a little ditsy, though."
