An urban Naxal is an urban supporter of Naxalites and their ideology. Urban Naxalites are usually most prominent in academia and the media, and use their positions of influence to covertly, and sometimes overtly, support and further the ideologies of Naxals.

Naxals themselves are far-left radical communists, present mostly in rural and tribal areas, and who advocate the use of torture and killings against what they call "class enemies", but which extends to anyone opposing their political ideology.
Joe: Man, that Sam is a dyed in the wool urban Naxal. Look at his speech at the university the other day where he called for the breakup of India along caste and religious lines.
