an african american underboss of harlem that worked for the Genovese crime family he controlled much of the numbers racket, prostitution, and drug trafficking in the area under the watch of charles (lucky) luciano. mr johnson was well respected in harlem. johnson passed his empire over to his protege frank lucas.
