Membership in a Homeowner’s Association where you must comply with standard rules to promote aesthetics/conformity and get approval for altering your property.
Often met with derision, because membership is a license for others members to be all up in your business.

My HOA just sent me a letter to put out more pinestraw and I’m pretty sure my neighbor called in to complain.
