poker game...two cards turned up by the dealer, player offered a chance to bet on next card falling "between" the two showing. If it does you win, if it doesn't you lose, if it matches, you pay double.

dealer turns up an 8 and Queen...next card is a nine, ten or jack - you win, etc...
