Sentiescence

A momentary appearance of sentience or awareness in a non-human entity (animal, AI, or system), triggered by behavior that pattern-matches to conscious intent, without confirming or implying that actual awareness is present.

The Roomba froze in front of the mirror like it recognized itself, and I felt a wave of sentiescence before I remembered it's just bumping into glass.
