brat shack

As generation Y grows up and reaches that age where they would, under different circumstances, leave home, teenagers these days - for a variety of economical reasons - are "choosing" to live at home for much longer. Pan to the "Brat Shack" - the freestanding, detached or semi detached room, shed or garage that the teenager has "moved into" to escape the 'rents.

Tip: If it can be called a granny flat, chances are it's a brat shack.
"My address is 7 Coopen street. Just go round the back and use the brat shack entrance."
