One of the 4 non-Spanish speaking countries in the Continent of South America. We speak Dutch over there because we are a former colony of the Netherlands. However, we have our own english-based creole, which is called Sranan Tongo. Suriname is home to people from Asian, Indian, or African backgrounds.

Papiamento 

A Dutch-based creole language spoken by the people of Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire.
NOT spoken by Surinamese people! @Jafje
I hate how people think us Surinamers speak Papjamento. That's not even a real thing! They probably mean Aruba's Papiamento.
