The action of using your big toe on your cat's anus to encourage them to move along, typically while they wait in a doorway instead of proceeding to go outside or come back in. May be used as a verb, as in tanusing the cat, or as a noun, as in the act of performing tanus on a cat.
After crying at length to go out, my tabby just stood in the doorway as I held the door open, refusing to go out or step back in. So I used my foot to tanus her and she immediately leapt out of the house.
