Sandernista 

A person who supports the politics, ideas and candidacies of Bernie Sanders. A partially derogatory word that came up during the 80`s while he was becoming an increasingly big figure in Burlington politics. The use of "Sandernista" still continues to this day.

The word comes from "Sandinista" which was the name of the radical left wing rebels in Nicaragua.

"John is a Sandernista." "These Sandernistas are everywhere in Vermont"
