Friendance

slightly more than an acquaintance but not yet at friend status

1. Jill wanted to invite Bobby over her house to study, but she wasn't quite sure if they were past the friendance stage.
2. Al asked Bobby if Jill was his friend. "No," Bobby said, disgusted, "She's just a friendance."
