You don't even realize you're being manipulated, pulled by strings and allowing yourself to be a trumpet.

toxic truth

Truth such that the person hearing it refuses to accept it until reflection reveals that it has lead them to a crossroads whose signposts read: "same" and "paradigm shift"

Best exemplified in the movie "a few good men" (Jack Nkcholson) :" "You can't bands the truth!". <people can't usually handle the 'Toxic Truth'>
