A statement or action that briefly disqualifies oneself from being considered a potential suitor. Used by pickup artists on beautiful women to relieve fears of being hit on uncomfortably.

A pickup artist asks his target for a napkin, then blows his nose. He is not offending her, nor insulting her. He is negging her. He certainly is not hitting on her.
