From the Greek island of Mykonos, known for its popularity for gay tourists, the term Mykanos became an insult following tours to the island by straight Australian boys. Mykanos is now another term to call your mate a homosexual, just like homo or fag. The spelling change from mykONOS to mykANOS, was a play on words with reference to anus, which stuck, so to speak.
