box drum 

An instrument initially developed in Peru & Cuba by using wooden shipping crates and drawers as drums. Called "cajon" which means "box" or "drawer" in Spanish. Gaining popularity in Latin music, Flamenco, and popular music. Also known as a Kotz Box.
Man that drummer is tight, he makes the box drum sound like a whole set of drums.
