a convertible Volkswagen, stems from the slang name for VW 'V-Dub' and the Kubelwagen (VW WW2 vehicle meaning 'tub car') which was the predecessor to the VW Thing.

Kelly: It rained and I forgot to put the top up.
Brian: Don't sweat it love, it's a dub tub.
