Suffigy

An expressive form with the primary or underline subject matter of suffering; usually from the personal perspective denoting one’s death; art that relates the artist’s portrayal of suffering to that of subject matter ranging from death and dying or the austere aftermath, like an effigy, similar to when in a black noir film the final scene cuts into “fin”. The term was created by an American human rights activist and testimonial writer, S.L.D. in September, 2019, to describe the content of her artworks.
Elliot Smith’s album, “From A Basement On A Hill” isn’t only a suffigy about heroin addiction and should have received him better treatment while in mastering, since it clearly predicts/predicted his suicide.
