A fictional family in the hit Nickelodeon TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender. It is well-known across the Avatar: The Last Airbender world. The members are very rich. Originating in Gaoling, in the Earth Kingdom, The Beifong family has always been treated as somewhat of royalty. Possibly the most notable member of this family is Toph Beifong, a blind earth bending girl who was misunderstood by her parents, so she left home to join the Avatar and his friends on a journey to defeat Fire Lord Ozai and restore balance to the world. In the show's sequel, The Legend of Korra, Toph has been revealed to have two daughters: Lin and Suyin. Lin was always stubborn like her mother, Toph, but Suyin was not as much like her mother. Toph became Chief of Police of Republic City and after she resigned, her daughter Lin took over. Suyin left Republic City, founded her own city called Zaofu, a city made out of metal (since Toph was known for inventing metalbending). Suyin married an architect named Bataar and had five children: Bataar Jr., Huan, Opal, Wei, and Wing. Lin and Suyin always fought for their mother's attention, but in Season 3 Episode "Old Wounds" they fought, blew off steam, and then forgave each other. Soon after that, the Beifong family helped fight against Zaheer and the rest of the Red Lotus, and later fight against Kuvira and the Earth Empire.
The Beifong family escaped Kuvira's prison right out of Zaofu.
