The slang term depo baby refers to a person who is perpetually involved in lawsuits, legal disputes, or other situations that somehow result in them giving a deposition.
The term depo is short for deposition—sworn, out-of-court testimony given as part of the discovery process in a lawsuit.
The term is often used in an at least mildly negative way to imply that the person spends so much time suing people, being sued, threatening litigation, or otherwise participating in legal disputes that depositions have essentially become a recurring part of their lifestyle.
It can also be used more humorously to describe someone who seems unusually comfortable around attorneys, court reporters, conference rooms, exhibits, subpoenas, and the phrase “for the record.”
