A metaphor often used as a means of estimating or judging the level of craic being interchanged between a circle of friends. Rarely found amongst females. Its' embodiment could be a drinking vessel of any form, for example, a pint-sized tankard, beaker, bowl, cannikin, cup, demitasse, draught, mug, taster or tumbler.
During a phenomenal session of banter: 'The chalice of banter is over-flowing!'

Before a night out: 'Time to fill the chalice of banter!'

When a person with smelly chat contributes to a session too much: 'the chalice of banter has sprung a leak.'
