When a band’s drummer plays with one drumming glove, as opposed to both gloves. This is done either for increased grip for one hand, personal style or in extreme scenarios to protect blisters from prolonged drumming. The term references the King of Pop singer Michael Jackson, who famously performed with one glove.
guitarist: I think he dug those drumming gloves we chipped in for.

bassist: Did you see he’s only wearing one glove?
Guitarist: Well, he’s a michael jackson drummer. He’s bad and I mean that in the MJ way, where bad means good.
Bassist: Yeah, he can really "Beat It" all right.

Get the michael jackson drummer mug.
Portmanteau of the words "guitar" and "arms race." A race between bands to accumulate the coolest, best-sounding and most elite guitar and bass gear; broadly: an ever escalating race or competition to be more aesthetically and sonically untouchable than the next band
That indie rock band thinks this is some kind of guitarms race. They're running cooler gear than every scene band, as well as major label sell out bands. You just know they're constantly on the gear page and didn't buy that stuff at guitar center. Total guitar geeks.
