You are single to everyone else except your partner. If you still have all of the elements of a serious relationship, physical and emotional and both partners know. If the relationship isn't socially exeptable or forbidden but the partners keep it secret, but still act the same.

Socially single is when you are single to everyone else except your partner. When a relationship isn't socially acceptable or bidden by others ( including or especially parents ) consent from both partners. Socially single is just like dating but no one know except you and your partner. It is not friends with benefits or fuck buddys . It still has all the qualities as a serious relationship.
