This is a technique used by dishwashers/bartenders that have nothing to do or dont want to work. They keep a rag with them at all times and when a manager or supervisor walks by they start scrubbing the closest thing to them so as to appear busy.
Jacob has the Rag in hand syndrome so bad that i think he may even sleep with it.
