1. to pull the cap off a marker (especially dry erase) and push it onto the back end of the marker.
The professor frinched the marker and proceeded to write on the whiteboard.
Sometimes it is hard to frinch because the cap gets stuck and won't come off the marker.

(Not to be confused with the always revolting French, with the smallish bird in the family Fringillidae, nor with the California-based band.)
