snarfkin 

the action of rapidly dry heaving. Can, but not necessarily, be the beginning of actual vomiting. Most often seen in dogs, but sometimes in people, especially if they have been drinking excessive amounts of alcohol.

He's just doing a snarfkin, he'll be O.K.
