Fechtering

1. (v): Bringing up esoteric hypothetical situations when everyone else agrees on the conversation point

2. (v): To be obstinate in every way, or simply respond 'nope' to an extremely reasonable suggestion

"Dave was being completely unreasonable, he was totally fechtering me in that conversation"
