A high school or university student, usually male, whose sudden interest in botany is motivated by his desire to grow marijuana plants for personal consumption.

Jim has always been a lazy pothead, but due to the prospect of a cheap source of weed, he has suddenly decided to become a potanist. Now he won't stop talking about strains and pollination and plant care.
