Gno (or gnoe, plural: gnoes) is a bastardized version of "No," applied in a manner to make it seem silly. The original objective was to parody people who were starting threads on message boards with topics like "OH NO!!!!!!1111"
It was first employed afterwards in limited amounts on chat sites, by people mocking other people that cannot spell - or at least those who choose not to.
Only recently has it really started to resurface on the web, and in particular, IRC. Jaimas, a regular IRC Chatter has repeatedly used it on his channel, and several others have taken a liking to the saying.
