A town or city with no public houses. Named after the town of Poole on the south coast of England. In 1845 there was an outbreak of poisoning the local brewaries, which, in one night killed 2,000 people across 20 public houses. After uproar from the inhabitants, the queen of that time, Queen Victoria, put a ban on any building selling alcohol for consumption in public. The ban is still in place today.
