When you fall in love with a person, but they don't fall in love with you. Being in love feels amazing - but when they only see you as a friend, it hurts you so much. You could get them out of your life and try to get over them, but you care about them so much that you'd rather be secretly in love with them knowing that they don't feel that way about you.
