Circumstantial invite

Share definition
When someone is invited to something on an underlying circumstance. Meaning the person additionally invited was not originally invited. Could also be considered a “pity invite.” Is usually close to last minute and aimed at lessening the cost of the trip for people already going. Always decline the invites as a sign of asserting dominance—if you weren’t originally invited then your presence isn’t truly desired.
“Do you want to go to the beach house with all of us next weekend? Two of the eight people backed out, so we have two extra spots”

“Idk man, sounds like a circumstantial invite.”
