German tradition of repeatedly pinching people on the day before their birthday with the goal to

a) annoy the hell out of them
b) find an excuse for physical closeness
c) check amount of body fat to decide for most suitable type of birthday cake

"Hey, did you just pinch me?"
– "Sure, it's your b-day tomorrow. I'm gonna zubbel you all day!"
"Nooooooo...!"
