The German company Heckler & Koch is now producing a morphed version of the G36 & M4 which is a 5.56x45 Nato rifle round. A revolutionary new gas and bolt assembly now makes this wepon even more reliable. Most notably, it stays clean longer. It requires less servicing than past rifles and you can pull the bolt out right after firing half a dozen clips to find it cool to the touch. While nothing highly technical like the OICW it is viewed to be a step up from the M16 and G36 variants. It is possibly that the U.S. military might adopt this new weapon in the next 5 years to replace our aging arsonal of M16A2's.
