Cochi

A term used frequently for an adoptive son or daughter in both Argentina and Chile. It comes from a famous folk tale of a orphan named 'Cochi' and his adventures. 'Cochi' is a term of endearment for adopted children.

We named our son 'Cochi' because he is adopted.
