Cornscateous

1. adj. A term used by early Almanac writers to refer to warm (or hot) and humid air in July. Supposedly these conditions are perfect for growing corn, especially in the Midwest corn belt, but they can be oppressive to people with respiratory problems.

2. adj. A term used by non-farmers to describe hot, humid conditions in July and August.
1. The cornscateous air is perfect for growing corn this year.

2. The weather is really cornscateous in the city today!
