Immigrant Phone 

An older-model mobile phone that has been unlocked and is usually on a pay-as-you-go contract. So called because it can be used by transient people who don't have enough documents to be eligible for a contract.

"Wow, look at that ancient phone. Who uses one of those these days?"
"It's an immigrant phone, what do you expect?"
