Talking about someone behind their back, or saying something bad about someone. Similar to nonsense or sometimes small talk.

"She was cattering about you yesterday"
"Stop all the catter"

When somebody talks about you behind your back. Similar to nonsense or talking badly about someone. Could be used to describe just small talk.

"She was just cattering about me behind my back"

"Stop all this catter"
