woketard
“Woketard” is a slang insult. It’s a mash-up of two pieces:
“Woke” – originally meant being aware of social injustice, especially racism. Over time it expanded to include awareness of issues like discrimination, inequality, and social justice more broadly.
“-tard” – a derogatory suffix derived from the word retard, historically used to insult people with intellectual disabilities. Because of that history, many people consider it offensive.
Put together, “woketard” is used online as a mocking or hostile term for someone perceived as extremely or blindly supportive of progressive social-justice ideas. The word is meant to belittle the person rather than debate their arguments.
