Check-in
When a person uses an app on their smartphone (or iPad) to "check-in" at a business, destination, or popular point of interest. If a person checks-in, it usually lets other people know where they're at via a social media channel such as Yelp, Foursquare, Facebook, and in some cases Twitter.

Yelpification
The process by which a place of business is reviewed by an online community. Can also be used to describe the phenomenon of people becoming more aware of a business, area, or region through online reviews.
1) San Francisco's Press Club has undergone significant Yelpification in the past year. 2) The Yelpification of Sacramento's midtown district has helped to draw more people to the area's pubs.
