Mumble and shake 

similar to evasive mumbling, refers to the action of mumbling incoherently while simultaneously shaking your head to avoid eye contact, used in a situation where a person wishes not to respond to a question or inquiry, usually from an authority figure such as a parent, teacher or boss
My parents asked me if I had been drinking so I had to give them the mumble and shake
