(Verb form of weasel) When asked a question or required to make a rebuttal that one would rather not be clear about due to embarrassment. Or expose a lie or some transgression, a "weasel" will dance around the subject without directly addressing it ... that is "weaseling". Similar to post-truth but lies or emotion may not necessarily be involved. You hear politicians do this all the time, never directly answering the question.
Teacher: Please explain such and such (requiring a very precise canned answer)
Student: "well.. it boils down to this ..." (playing for time to think)
Shout form back of the room: "Weaseling"
Teacher: "we're not boiling eggs..." Moves on to the next student.
Student: "well.. it boils down to this ..." (playing for time to think)
