A valknut is a symbol given to the slain men and women who have fallen on battle. It is an honor bestowed to anyone who are going to battle also. It is signify that they have given up their normal lives to another in a possibility with it ending in death.

A symbol for anyone who is prepared to die for someone, something or some cause.

John recieved a valknut before battle.
John was given the valknut for dying for his country
