Ashley gave Johnny the detriment of the doubt when she assumed that he was an obsessed jerk rather than thinking that there was a misunderstanding on both sides due to both of their actions, which led him to believe he had hurt her and that she was better off without him, and led her to believe that he was showing his true colors after several years of good friendship. They were both wrong, and lost their friendship due to not communicating.
